Does it bother anyone else that the "fierce" competition so early in the 2008 Presidential election is based on dollar amounts?

Has our electoral process really degenerated past the point of anyone even pretending to care about issues?

I happen to know that some of the richie-rich donors are giving to everybody, because it's part of the season's social calendar.
